High Energy Batteries held its 64th AGM on June 21, 2025. FY25 turnover grew 4.5% to Rs. 80.75 Cr, but PBT fell to Rs. 20.68 Cr (from Rs. 23.11 Cr) with PBT margin slipping to 26% from 31%, mainly due to higher R&D and salary expenses. The company declared a 150% dividend (Rs. 3/share) for the 5th straight year and remains long-term debt-free. Management highlighted a Rs. 50-60 Cr per year order pipeline from DRDO and Indian Navy for torpedo batteries (Silver Chloride Magnesium and Silver Oxide Zinc). The company is scaling up its Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) to 50 kW/100 kWh with IIT Chennai and ONGC, developing a 100 kW Hydrogen Electrolyser with an oil major, and pursuing US/Europe tie-ups for VRFB manufacturing. All four resolutions passed with 100% support, including reappointment of Chairman N Gopalaratnam.
Shareholders saw FY25 margin compression but received clear visibility on a meaningful defence order pipeline that could drive growth. The consistent 150% dividend and debt-free balance sheet remain supportive, while R&D-heavy diversification into flow batteries and hydrogen offers long-term optionality.
