Hindalco filed its Q1 FY26 investor presentation alongside unaudited consolidated results. Consolidated revenue rose 13% YoY to ₹64,232 Cr, while profit after tax jumped 30% to ₹4,004 Cr (EPS ₹18.03). The India business was the standout, with aluminium upstream EBITDA up 17% to ₹4,080 Cr on better margins (44% vs 40%) and aluminium downstream posting a record Q1 EBITDA of ₹229 Cr, up 108% YoY. Novelis was weak, with EBITDA down 17% to $416 million and EBITDA/ton down 18% to $432 due to tariff impacts and higher scrap prices. The company announced acquisition of US-based AluChem Companies for $125 million and reiterated a target of 4x EBITDA by FY30. Net debt to EBITDA stood healthy at 1.02x consolidated.
Strong India aluminium performance and PAT growth of 30% are positives for shareholders, but Novelis margin pressure from tariffs and weak copper EBITDA may temper sentiment. The AluChem acquisition and FY30 EBITDA 4x ambition signal long-term growth, though near-term Novelis headwinds warrant monitoring.
