Hindalco Industries has published a notice about a special window for re-lodgement of physical share transfer requests. SEBI had discontinued physical share transfers from April 1, 2019, but a new special window is now open from February 5, 2026 to February 4, 2027. This window allows investors to resubmit physical share transfer requests that were originally lodged before April 1, 2019 but were returned due to documentation deficiencies. To be eligible, investors must have the original share certificate available and the transfer must have been previously rejected. Cases involving disputes between transferor and transferee, or shares already transferred to IEPF, are excluded. All shares transferred under this window will be credited in demat form with a mandatory one-year lock-in period during which they cannot be transferred, pledged, or lien marked.
This is an administrative/regulatory update that provides an opportunity for shareholders with rejected physical share transfers to rectify their holdings. The shares will be locked in for one year after transfer. This does not directly impact Hindalco's stock price but encourages dematerialization of physical shares for operational efficiency.
