Hindoostan Mills reported a sharp deterioration in FY25 with total operating revenue falling to Rs. 3,315.25 lakhs from Rs. 8,826.40 lakhs in FY24, swinging to a net loss of Rs. 1,077.39 lakhs versus a profit of Rs. 126.80 lakhs last year. The Textile segment (Rs. 1,737.21 lakhs revenue, Rs. 1,328.26 lakhs loss) was the main drag, while the Engineering segment remained profitable at Rs. 154.01 lakhs. On April 15, 2025, the Board decided to permanently close the loss-making Textile division, subject to government approval, which carries liabilities of Rs. 931.68 lakhs and a contingent liability of Rs. 253.77 lakhs. EPS for the year stood at Rs. (64.72) versus Rs. 7.62 in FY24, and total equity declined to Rs. 3,915.53 lakhs from Rs. 5,012.98 lakhs. Separately, Ms. Geeta J. Palan was reappointed as Woman Independent Director for a second 5-year term, and M/s. PRS Associates was recommended as Secretarial Auditor for FY26 onwards.
Very negative for shareholders — the company swung to a substantial loss, revenue nearly halved, and the Board has decided to wind down its loss-making textile operations. With the cash flow still positive but reserves declining, investors should weigh the heavy losses and division closure as material risks; the stock is likely to face pressure given the weak results.
