Hindoostan Mills reported Q2 FY26 revenue from continuing operations (now only Engineering) of Rs. 323.07 lakhs, down about 12% from Rs. 368.41 lakhs a year ago, with H1 FY26 revenue falling roughly 18% YoY to Rs. 664.33 lakhs. The company swung to a pre-tax loss of Rs. 63.55 lakhs in Q2 from a profit of Rs. 101.50 lakhs in the year-ago quarter, while H1 FY26 profit from continuing operations shrank sharply to Rs. 41.15 lakhs from Rs. 245.18 lakhs. A major development: the Board decided on April 15, 2025 to shut down the loss-making Textile Division, received a final closure order in June 2025, and retrenched all workers; the textile segment is now reported as discontinued operations. Total H1 FY26 net loss was Rs. 266.77 lakhs (better than Rs. 665.61 lakhs loss in H1 FY25), but operating cash flow turned deeply negative at Rs. (610.65) lakhs versus a positive Rs. 716.21 lakhs a year ago. Auditor SHR & Co. issued an unqualified limited review report.
Exiting the chronically loss-making textile business should improve long-term profitability and clean up the P&L, but the near-term picture is weak with declining Engineering revenue, a Q2 loss, and negative operating cash flow. Shareholders should watch pending labour cases from the discontinued division, the Rs. 127.73 lakh pending textile subsidy, and the Rs. 1,597.39 lakh arbitration claim as potential overhangs.
