Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has appointed two new Part-Time Non-Official Independent Directors on its Board, based on a directive from the Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence Production. Dr. S D Premkumar, an ENT Surgeon with over 16 years of medical experience, and Shri Rakesh Bhawsar, a practicing Chartered Accountant with 22+ years of audit and consulting experience, will serve for a period of three years from 15th May 2025 (or until further orders, whichever is earlier). Both appointments are subject to shareholder approval at the next General Meeting. Neither director is related to any existing Board member, and neither has been debarred by SEBI from holding directorship.
This is a routine government-led induction of independent directors at HAL, a public sector defence company, and is unlikely to have any material impact on the stock price or operations. It strengthens board diversity by adding medical and financial expertise.
