Hindustan Copper's Board approved awarding a 20-year contract (extendable by 5 years) to Lohum Materials Pvt. Ltd. for restarting operations at the Gujarat Copper Plant under a Revenue Sharing Model. The Board also approved MoUs with Central University of South Bihar for CSR and research, Engineers India Limited for technical services, and a general agreement with CSIR-NML for R&D projects at Indian Copper Complex. Additionally, the Board deliberated exploring copper blocks in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Sikkim.
Restarting the Gujarat Copper Plant marks a positive step toward resuming idle production capacity, which could boost HCL's copper output and revenue. The various partnerships signal strategic focus on exploration, R&D, and technical capabilities.
