Hindustan Zinc's Rampura Agucha Mine, the world's largest underground zinc-lead mine, has become India's first Zinc Mark certified mine. The certification validates responsible zinc production against internationally benchmarked ESG standards, responsible sourcing practices, and value chain transparency. This follows the company's Chanderiya Smelting Complex also receiving Zinc Mark certification, making Hindustan Zinc the first Indian company to offer responsibly sourced zinc across its entire production chain from mining to smelting. The certification involved independent third-party assessment under the Copper Mark Assurance Framework. The company states this strengthens its position with customers seeking ESG-compliant, traceable raw materials for sectors including steel galvanization, infrastructure, automobiles, and renewable energy.
This certification enhances Hindustan Zinc's credibility with global customers prioritising sustainable procurement and responsible sourcing, potentially strengthening its competitive position in markets where ESG compliance is increasingly important for supply chain partnerships.
