Promoter Vedanta Ltd created a new encumbrance on its Hindustan Zinc shares (60.71 percent holding) on June 30, 2026. It gave a corporate guarantee of Rs 1,624 crore to IDBI Trusteeship on behalf of a bank consortium for a loan availed by its subsidiary FACOR (Ferro Alloys Corporation). The facility requires Vedanta to maintain at least 50.1 percent in HZL, which under SEBI rules is treated as an encumbrance. This is the 9th encumbrance on record, taking total encumbered shares to about 55 percent of HZL capital, equal to 90.67 percent of Vedanta's stake.
No shares are being sold or invoked. The encumbrance is a covenant tied to a subsidiary loan guarantee. Vedanta still holds 60.71 percent in HZL.
