The board of Hindusthan Udyog Ltd, on May 29, 2025, approved standalone and consolidated audited financial results for Q4 and FY25. Standalone revenue from operations remains nil; total income fell to Rs 1,316.49 lakhs from Rs 2,095.46 lakhs (down ~37%), with profit after tax declining to Rs 653.38 lakhs from Rs 1,136.74 lakhs (down ~42%). Nearly all standalone income came from a Rs 807.33 lakhs dividend received from associate company WPIL Ltd, down from Rs 1,544.66 lakhs last year. On a consolidated basis, profit after tax dropped sharply to Rs 5,496.36 lakhs from Rs 18,190.45 lakhs (down ~70%), mainly because share of profits from associates fell to Rs 5,651.19 lakhs from Rs 18,598.37 lakhs. EPS on a consolidated basis fell to Rs 88.72 from Rs 293.63. The statutory auditor issued an unmodified opinion on both results.
Lower dividend from WPIL and weaker associate-level performance drove a steep drop in consolidated earnings, which is negative for shareholders. However, the balance sheet remains healthy with low borrowings (~6.6% debt-to-equity), and the standalone business is now essentially a holding entity reliant on associate dividends, so future earnings will closely track WPIL's performance.
