Honda India Power Products reported Q1 FY26 (quarter ended June 30, 2025) revenue from operations of Rs 15,491 lakhs, up about 7.5% from Rs 14,417 lakhs in the same quarter last year. However, profit after tax fell sharply to Rs 948 lakhs from Rs 1,615 lakhs a year ago, a decline of roughly 41%, with EPS dropping to Rs 9.35 from Rs 15.92. The statutory auditors (BSR & Co. LLP) issued an unmodified (clean) limited review report. The Board also declared a massive 1000% interim dividend of Rs 100 per share (on Rs 10 face value), with a record date of August 21, 2025 and payment by September 11, 2025. Additionally, the Board approved amending the company's Objects Clause to enter the electric motor business under the 'eGX' brand, targeting noise and emission-sensitive applications like hospitals, schools, and indoor facilities.
The huge interim dividend (Rs 100 per share) is a major positive for shareholders in the near term, signalling strong cash generation despite weaker quarterly earnings. However, the sharp fall in profits despite modest revenue growth points to margin pressure that may concern investors looking at underlying business health. The proposed foray into electric motors is a strategic diversification move aligned with sustainability trends but will need shareholder approval.
