HUDCO's Bond Allotment Committee is meeting on May 6, 2025 to approve the issue and allotment of unsecured, taxable, redeemable, non-convertible, non-cumulative NCDs with a face value of Rs. 1,00,000 each, maturing on May 6, 2030 (5-year tenor). The base issue size is Rs. 500 crore with a green shoe option to retain oversubscription of up to Rs. 2,500 crore, taking the total to Rs. 3,000 crore. The issue will be placed privately through online bidding on the NSE EBP platform and listed on BSE. This tranche is part of a larger Board-approved plan from April 4, 2025 to raise up to Rs. 65,000 crore via bonds/debentures in FY 2025-26, with proceeds meant for lending activities and repayment or refinancing of existing debt. The NCDs carry the highest safety rating of AAA/Stable from both ICRA and IRRPL (India Ratings).
The fresh NCD issuance will strengthen HUDCO's long-term funding base to support its lending business and refinance existing debt, which is positive for operational growth. Since the NCDs are unsecured, senior debt, and AAA-rated, the cost of borrowing is likely to be competitive. There is no direct equity dilution or impact on share price, though successful large-scale borrowing signals strong fundraising capability.
