Humming Bird Education Limited reported audited results for FY25 with standalone revenue from operations of Rs 539.49 lakhs (vs Rs 460.56 lakhs in FY24, up about 17%) and a standalone profit after tax of Rs 36.17 lakhs, compared to a loss of Rs 13.80 lakhs in FY24. The strong turnaround was driven mostly by the first half (H1 FY25 PAT of Rs 89.95 lakhs), while the second half slipped into a loss of Rs 53.78 lakhs on standalone basis. Consolidated PAT jumped sharply to Rs 54.85 lakhs from Rs 4.52 lakhs, helped by subsidiary contributions. Statutory auditor VCAN & Co. issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on both sets of results. Operating cash flow, however, turned deeply negative at Rs -134.37 lakhs standalone and Rs -153.48 lakhs consolidated, with cash balances collapsing from Rs 151.39 lakhs to Rs 5.41 lakhs standalone as funds were parked in other non-current assets (Rs 142.01 lakhs).
Reported profits improved meaningfully year-on-year, but the steep fall in H2 profitability and a sharp swing to negative operating cash flow signal that cash quality of earnings is weak, which investors should weigh alongside the headline profit recovery.
