IDBI Bank has been ordered to pay a penalty of Rs. 0.35 crore by the Deputy Commissioner (Large Taxpayer's Unit, Corporate Division, Kolkata, West Bengal) under Section 73 of the CGST Act, 2017. The order relates to alleged excess availment and utilization of Input Tax Credit (ITC) on Same PAN and Non Filer and Cancelled tax payer during FY 2021-22. The total financial demand, including tax of Rs. 3.55 crore, interest of Rs. 2.36 crore, and the penalty of Rs. 0.35 crore, comes to about Rs. 6.26 crore. The order was received on December 29, 2025, and the bank has said it is evaluating legal remedies, including filing an appeal. The disclosure was made under SEBI's Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulation 30.
The combined demand is modest relative to a bank of IDBI's size and is unlikely to materially affect its financial position, but the appeal outcome will determine the final liability. Investors should monitor whether the bank can get the demand reduced or set aside on appeal.
