Indian Terrain reported a steady Q1 FY26 with revenue nearly flat at ₹68.8 Cr versus ₹68.35 Cr last year, but profitability improved significantly. Gross margin expanded sharply to 39.04% from 27.97% YoY, and EBITDA turned positive at ₹1.02 Cr compared to a loss of ₹11.48 Cr in Q1 FY25. Net loss narrowed to ₹6.18 Cr from ₹15.37 Cr YoY. The company strategically exited low-margin online/marketplace sales (online now just 0.15% of revenue vs 17.4% YoY), while the MBO distribution channel turned around from a loss to ₹15.95 Cr. Working capital also improved, with inventory days reducing to 81 from 97 in Sep'24. The company has 201 exclusive stores and is targeting profitable growth through capital-light expansion, cost optimization via TOC initiatives, and doubling MBO shipping in Q2.
The sharp improvement in gross margins and the swing to positive EBITDA signal that management's strategy of exiting unprofitable online channels and focusing on higher-margin offline channels is working. For shareholders, this is a positive directional shift toward profitability, though the company remains in net loss territory. Stock could react positively on margin improvement narrative.
