IREDA reported strong FY26 results with total income of Rs 8,337 crore, up 23.4% from Rs 6,755 crore in FY25. Net profit after tax grew 10.3% to Rs 1,873 crore from Rs 1,699 crore. EPS improved to Rs 6.73 from Rs 6.32. However, asset quality showed stress - Gross NPAs increased to 3.49% from 2.45% and Net NPAs rose to 1.29% from 0.96%. Cumulative impairment allowance increased significantly to Rs 2,689 crore from Rs 1,920 crore. The auditors issued an unmodified opinion but included Emphasis of Matter noting that the Audit Committee has not existed since March 28, 2026 due to lack of Independent Directors. Two fraud cases totaling Rs 14.80 crore were reported to RBI. The company raised Rs 2,006 crore via QIP in June 2025 and has approved another Rs 2,994 crore QIP.
Strong revenue growth reflects healthy business expansion but rising NPAs and impairment allowances indicate asset quality concerns that investors should monitor. The absence of an Audit Committee is a governance gap requiring government action on Independent Director appointments.
