Indo-National (Nippo Batteries) announced Q1 FY26 results with standalone revenue up 7% YoY at Rs. 119.44 crs and standalone profit after tax up 60% YoY at Rs. 1.62 crs (EPS of Rs. 2.16 vs Rs. 1.35). On a consolidated basis, revenue was flat YoY at Rs. 119.44 crs with PAT at Rs. 1.02 crs, impacted by weak performance of subsidiary Helios Strategic Systems. The board approved re-appointment of Mr. P. Dwaraknath Reddy as Managing Director and his son Mr. Aditya Reddy as Joint Managing Director for a fresh 5-year term from October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2030, subject to shareholder approval. It also appointed Mr. BLN Prasad, a 30-year company veteran, as an additional non-executive non-independent director. During the quarter, the company invested Rs. 353.69 lakhs to acquire a 32.87% stake in Medcuore Medical Solutions (making it an associate) and Rs. 850 lakhs in compulsorily convertible preference shares of Axial Aero, marking diversification beyond its core battery business.
Strong Q1 standalone earnings and the re-appointment of the promoter Reddy family to key leadership roles provide continuity and strategic stability, though it also reinforces promoter family control at the top. New investments in medical devices and aerospace signal diversification ambitions, but consolidated numbers remain weighed down by subsidiary performance—shareholders should watch execution of the Helios amalgamation and new ventures.
