Indus Infra Trust's Investment Manager (GR Highways Investment Manager) has approved three capital-raising measures. First, the trust will issue up to 20,000 unsecured commercial papers worth Rs 1,000 crore in total (face value Rs 5 lakh each). Second, a preferential issue of units worth up to Rs 3,300 million (Rs 330 crore) will be raised from the Sponsor. Third, a much larger capital raise of up to Rs 50,000 million (Rs 5,000 crore) is being planned through various methods including private placement, preferential issue, institutional placement, further public offer, or rights issue. All proposals are subject to unitholder approval and applicable regulatory clearances.
The approvals signal aggressive capital-raising intent, with a combined potential equity raise of over Rs 5,300 crore. Existing unitholders face dilution risk from the preferential issue to the sponsor and the broader capital raise. The commercial paper issuance provides short-term liquidity support.
