Insecticides (India) Limited has launched GRANUVIATM, a next-generation insecticide for paddy crop targeting brown plant hopper (BPH) and stem borer. The product, developed by Corteva Agriscience, will be exclusively supplied to IIL under its brand name. GRANUVIATM provides up to 60 days of BPH control and up to two weeks of stem borer protection when applied at 30-35 days after transplanting. BPH can cause yield losses of 20-60% while stem borer causes 10-30% damage. The product uses a granular formulation compatible with standard farmer practices (mixing with sand or urea), reducing application costs and spray rounds. IIL serves 40 lakh+ farmers through 70,000+ dealers and 8,500+ distributors across India.
The launch expands IIL's paddy crop protection portfolio with a premium product from a global collaborator (Corteva). While no revenue contribution was disclosed, successful adoption in India's massive rice market (worth thousands of crores) could benefit future revenues, especially given the critical need for effective BPH control highlighted by recent widespread infestations.
