EPS improved significantly to Rs 7.24 from Rs 5.33. Asset quality improved with gross NPAs falling to 2.50% from 3.37% and net NPAs to 0.64% from 0.79%. Capital adequacy remains strong at 16.41% with CET1 ratio of 13.38%. Deposits grew 17.7% to Rs 1,22,641 crore while advances grew 11.3% to Rs 1,65,354 crore. The auditors issued an Emphasis of Matter highlighting Rs 228.65 crore impairment provision on the bank's Rs 345.92 crore investment in associate Jammu & Kashmir Grameen Bank, along with deferred tax asset recognition and prior period adjustments.
The bank delivered solid profit growth with improving asset quality and strong capital buffers, which should support the stock positively. However, the Rs 228.65 crore impairment on Grameen Bank investment and auditor emphasis on deferred tax assets may raise concerns about future earnings quality.
