Jammu and Kashmir Bank reported strong full-year net profit of Rs.2,363 crore, up 13.5% from Rs.2,082 crore in the prior year. Q4 profit jumped 36.5% to Rs.798 crore. The bank's advances grew 18% year-on-year to Rs.1.23 lakh crore while deposits rose 11% to Rs.1.65 lakh crore. Asset quality improved significantly with gross NPA falling to 2.50% from 3.37% and net NPA down to 0.64% from 0.79%. However, Net Interest Margin contracted to 3.60% from 3.92% due to lower yield on advances (8.98% vs 9.56%), indicating margin pressure. Cost-to-income ratio improved to 56.18% from 57.69%. Capital adequacy remained healthy at 16.55%.
The bank delivered robust profit growth with improved asset quality, but the decline in NIM signals margin pressure from the interest rate environment. The strong Q4 showing and better operational efficiency are positives, though investors should monitor the declining CASA ratio and yield compression.
