CRISIL Ratings has reaffirmed the BBB- long-term rating on Jain Irrigation Systems' Rs. 2,930 crore bank loan facilities and Rs. 785.63 crore Non-Convertible Debentures. However, the rating agency revised the outlook from 'Stable' to 'Negative', signalling concern about the company's near-term financial health. The short-term rating of A3 was also reaffirmed. The revision covers facilities from lenders including SBI, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank, PNB, IDBI, Exim Bank, IFC, Standard Chartered, and asset reconstruction companies like J.C. Flowers and ARCI.
While the rating itself was not downgraded, a Negative outlook is a warning sign that a downgrade could follow if the company's financial performance doesn't improve. This may weigh on the stock in the short term and could make future borrowing slightly more expensive for the company.
