Jio eyes Indian LEO satellite constellation as Akash Ambani unveils sovereign connectivity vision

Reliance Jio is evaluating the creation of a sovereign Indian Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation to deliver broadband connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved regions. At Reliance Industries' AGM, Akash Ambani said satellite connectivity will become a key growth pillar alongside 5G, AI, cloud and digital infrastructure. The company also plans to build satellite ground station infrastructure in India to strengthen digital sovereignty and expand high-speed internet access nationwide.
