Imperial Chemical Industries Limited (ICIL), one of the promoters of Akzo Nobel India, sold 22,77,015 equity shares (about 5% of the company's paid-up capital) through a block deal on the NSE on 24th September 2025 for an aggregate consideration of Rs. 764.80 crore. After this sale, ICIL continues to be a promoter, but the overall promoter group shareholding has come down from 74.76% to 69.76%. Buyers were public investors — no promoter group entities purchased the shares, and the transaction is not a related party deal.
Promoter shareholding has reduced by 5 percentage points to 69.76%, which increases the public float and may improve liquidity in the stock. While ICIL remains a promoter, ongoing promoter selling can be monitored closely by investors as a signal of the parent group's strategic intent.
