JSW Energy successfully raised ₹4,000 crore through a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP), allotting 7.61 crore equity shares at ₹525 per share (a 1.69% discount to the floor price). Two marquee investors dominated the placement: SBI Equity Hybrid Fund received 36.89 million shares (48.4% of the issue) and GQG Partners Emerging Markets Equity Fund received 18.39 million shares (24.1% of the issue). Other participants included Blackrock and leading Indian insurance companies. The company stated the proceeds, combined with promoter preferential allotment and JSW Steel share sale proceeds of ₹3,150 crore, will strengthen its balance sheet and reduce net leverage toward its target of below 5x by 2030.
The QIP signals strong institutional confidence in JSW Energy's growth story. The capital raise positions the company as one of the most robustly capitalised independent power producers in India, enabling it to pursue its 30 GW generation and 40 GWh storage capacity targets by 2030.
