JSW Energy has commissioned the first 80 MW unit of its 240 MW Kutehr Hydro Electric Project in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh and begun supplying power to Haryana Power Purchase Centre. The second 80 MW unit has been synchronized with the grid and is in trial run, while commissioning of the third 80 MW unit is in progress. The project is backed by a 35-year Power Purchase Agreement with Haryana at a levelized ceiling tariff of ₹4.50/kWh for the entire 240 MW. With this addition, JSW Energy's installed hydro capacity stands at 1,471 MW and overall renewables share at 56% of total capacity. The company has 12.8 GW operational, 12.9 GW under construction, and 4.6 GW in pipeline, targeting 30 GW capacity by FY2030.
Positive for shareholders — the commissioning kicks off a new long-term revenue stream under a 35-year government-backed PPA, strengthens the renewable energy portfolio, and supports progress toward the company's 30 GW capacity target by FY2030.
