JSW Energy has completed the acquisition of Raigarh Champa Rail Infrastructure Private Limited (RCRIPL), making it a 100% wholly-owned subsidiary. RCRIPL provides critical railway infrastructure services to JSW Mahanadi Power Company Limited (JMPCL), which operates a 3,600 MW thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh (1,800 MW operational, 1,800 MW under construction). The acquisition was carried out through the corporate insolvency resolution process under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, with the NCLT Hyderabad Bench approving the resolution plan on January 21, 2026. The total resolution amount is Rs. 700.10 crores, paid through a mix of cash and non-convertible debentures issued by RCRIPL to financial creditors. RCRIPL posted revenue of Rs. 54 crores in FY25 and Rs. 53 crores in FY24. This follows JSW Energy's earlier acquisition of JMPCL in March 2025 and KSK Water Infrastructures, consolidating control over critical inputs for the 3,600 MW capacity.
This acquisition gives JSW Energy full operational control over a critical input (railway infrastructure) for its 3,600 MW JMPCL power plant, reducing dependency risks and improving reliability. The deal is strategically important but relatively small in financial terms (Rs. 700 crores resolution amount vs. JSW Energy's much larger scale), so impact on stock price is likely neutral to mildly positive, reflecting operational consolidation rather than new growth.
