JSW Energy's subsidiary JSW Neo Energy, through the Indian Wind Power Association, had challenged a 2018 APERC order that allowed Andhra Pradesh DISCOMs to deduct Generation Based Incentive (GBI) from energy payments. The Appellate Tribunal for Electricity had earlier set aside this order, and the AP DISCOMs appealed to the Supreme Court. On March 25, 2026, the Supreme Court dismissed the DISCOMs' appeal and confirmed that GBI must be paid to generating companies over and above the tariff. This is an update to JSW Energy's earlier disclosure dated September 30, 2023.
Positive for shareholders — the ruling protects additional revenue (GBI) for JSW Neo Energy's wind power subsidiaries in Andhra Pradesh, improving cash flows and earnings visibility from these projects.
