JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 22.73 lakh tonnes for May 2025, up 8% year-on-year from 20.98 lakh tonnes in May 2024. Indian operations produced 21.94 lakh tonnes (up 9% YoY), while JSW Steel USA – Ohio contributed 0.79 lakh tonnes. FY26 cumulative production till May stood at 47.56 lakh tonnes, a 13% jump over the same period last year. Capacity utilisation at Indian operations was 80% in May, impacted by a planned maintenance shutdown of one blast furnace at the Dolvi plant, which was restarted on May 30, 2025. The company reaffirmed its growth plan to take consolidated capacity from 35.7 MTPA to 43.4 MTPA over the next three years.
Solid YoY volume growth (8% in May, 13% YTD) reflects strong demand and operational performance, which is positive for investors. The temporary dip in capacity utilisation to 80% was due to planned maintenance and not a demand concern, so the near-term impact on stock sentiment should be neutral to mildly positive.
