JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 7.26 million tonnes for Q1 FY26, up 14% year-on-year but down 5% quarter-on-quarter. The sequential decline was due to planned maintenance shutdowns of blast furnaces during the quarter. Indian Operations produced 7.02 million tonnes (15% YoY, -5% QoQ), while JSW Steel USA Ohio contributed 0.24 million tonnes. Capacity utilization at Indian Operations stood at 87%, with blast furnaces restarted and running at optimum levels post-maintenance. The company highlighted its consolidated capacity of 35.7 MTPA and plans to scale up to 43.4 MTPA over the next three years.
Strong double-digit YoY growth reflects healthy underlying demand, while the QoQ dip is a one-off maintenance event and not a structural concern. Restarted furnaces at full capacity and the expansion roadmap to 43.4 MTPA are positive signals for sustained volume growth ahead.
