Jupiter Wagons' subsidiary Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM) has launched new containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in 10 ft and 20 ft sizes. These air-cooled, modular systems offer capacities ranging from 241 kWh to 3 MWh and are designed for diesel generator replacement, solar storage, energy shifting, and backup power for commercial and industrial use. The products are fully designed and manufactured in-house at JEM's Indore and Bangalore facilities, making it one of the few vertically integrated players in India's energy storage space. JEM has partnered with GMMCO (a CK Birla Group company) for distribution, with the first 10 ft unit being supplied to Mumbai-based Greenlit. The Indore plant is set to scale from 1 GWh to 5 GWh annual capacity over the next three years, and JEM will export its first 20 ft BESS unit to Africa in October. The company also plans to launch liquid-cooled BESS systems for grid-scale use.
This expands JWL's revenue base into the fast-growing energy storage segment and signals a major capacity ramp-up, which could boost long-term growth. For shareholders, this represents diversification beyond wagons into clean energy, but near-term stock impact will depend on order flow and execution of the 5x capacity expansion.
