Kansai Nerolac Paints filed its Q1 FY26 investor presentation ahead of the results call. Standalone revenue rose a modest 1.8% YoY to Rs. 20,874 million, but profitability took a hit — PBDIT fell 6.7% to Rs. 3,120 million and PAT dropped to Rs. 2,309 million, as material costs rose to 63.9% of sales (from 63.0%) and operating expenses inched up to 21.2%. Consolidated numbers showed similar pressure, with PBDIT down 8% and PBDIT margin contracting from 15.5% to 14.0%. Management flagged sluggish automotive demand and geopolitical risks, but highlighted market share gains in auto, mid-single-digit growth in decorative projects, and strong infrastructure-driven demand for industrial coatings.
The story is mixed — topline growth is weak and margins are clearly under pressure, which is likely to weigh on the stock in the short term. Investors will look to the call for clarity on cost management, demand recovery in auto, and the pace of margin normalisation in coming quarters.
