Karma Energy Limited, a renewable power generation company, reported its unaudited Q1 FY26 results, approved at the board meeting on August 12, 2025. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 305.82 lac from Rs 239.58 lac in Q1 FY25, a growth of about 28% year-on-year. However, profit after tax declined to Rs 60.81 lac from Rs 93.48 lac, a drop of roughly 35%, largely because operating and maintenance costs jumped sharply to Rs 164.55 lac from Rs 103.35 lac. The bottom line was supported by an exceptional item of Rs 81.43 lac, being interest recovered on debtors written off earlier following a Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission order. EPS stood at Rs 0.53 versus Rs 0.81 in the same quarter last year, and the statutory auditors Batliboi & Purohit issued an unmodified limited review report.
Higher power generation revenue is a positive, but rising costs are squeezing core margins and pulling down recurring profits, so the headline PAT growth relies on a one-time exceptional gain rather than operating performance. Short-term stock reaction may be muted unless cost pressures ease in coming quarters.
