Kaveri Seed Company shared its FY25 investor presentation showing total revenue growth of 5.57% to Rs. 1,121.57 crore, driven by a strong 22% jump in non-cotton segments (maize, rice, vegetables, bajra). Cotton revenues, however, fell 27% to Rs. 260.81 crore with volumes down 35%. Profit after tax was weighed down by a one-time interest charge of Rs. 8.85 crore on a loan to the employees' trust, higher ESOP costs of Rs. 4.95 crore, and a Rs. 5.68 crore rise in depreciation. The company completed acquisition of the remaining 30% stake in distribution arm Aditya Agritech for Rs. 23.60 crore, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary. Exports dropped sharply to Rs. 22 crore from Rs. 66 crore due to political unrest in Bangladesh and the absence of a one-time Tanzania order.
The strong non-cotton growth signals successful diversification and reduces dependence on the struggling cotton segment, which is positive for long-term stability. However, near-term earnings remain under pressure from one-time charges and cotton weakness, while the Aditya Agritech acquisition strengthens distribution control.
