Kaveri Seed Company has filed the transcript of its Q4 and FY 2024-25 earnings call with the exchanges. For FY25, revenue grew 5.57% year-on-year to Rs. 1,121.57 crores, but net profit declined to Rs. 265.21 crores from Rs. 293 crores in FY24. EBITDA rose modestly to Rs. 274.29 crores. Q4 FY25 was weak with negative EBITDA of Rs. 10.72 crores and a small net loss of Rs. 2.79 crores. The cotton segment saw a 27% drop in volumes, hurt by government price controls (only 4% hike) versus sharp cost increases, while non-cotton segments like Bajra, hybrid rice, maize, and vegetables posted strong growth. Exports fell sharply to Rs. 22 crores from Rs. 66 crores due to political unrest in Bangladesh and government changes in Tanzania. The company holds Rs. 443 crores in cash and recently acquired a 30% stake in Aditya Agritech.
Mixed outlook for shareholders: revenue growth and strong non-cotton performance are positives, but cotton margin pressure, weak Q4, declining profits, and export headwinds cap near-term excitement. Management's guidance of 10-12% revenue growth and 46-47% gross margins offers some comfort, but execution in cotton and recovery of Bangladesh business remain key watchpoints.
