Kinetic Engineering Ltd (KEL) has granted a non-exclusive brand license to its subsidiary Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd (KWV) to use the Kinetic brand name and trademarks for EV business for an initial 3-year period. KEL and other promoters have already invested ₹42.83 crores in KWV, with an additional ₹29 crores planned, bringing the total to ₹71.83 crores and giving KEL an 80% ownership stake. KWV, incorporated in September 2022, is preparing to unveil its EV product portfolio, rollout strategy, partnerships, and go-to-market plans. KEL already supplies EV components like gearboxes, axles, and chassis, and the Kinetic Group also operates in battery manufacturing under the 'Range X' brand.
This move positions KEL's subsidiary to enter India's growing EV market under an established brand, while KEL strengthens its role in the EV supply chain and increases its ownership stake to 80%. For shareholders, this signals a clearer path to EV commercialization and potential revenue growth, though execution risks remain as KWV has not yet launched commercially.
