Kings Infra Ventures Ltd welcomed the USFDA's approval of India's Turtle Excluder Device (TED) for shrimp trawl fisheries, which is expected to lift the US ban on wild-caught shrimp imports imposed in 2021 under Section 609 of the US Endangered Species Act. The TED was designed by CIFT and validated by CMFRI, FSI, and MPEDA, and is proven to reduce sea turtle mortality by up to 97%. The US accounts for nearly 30% of India's shrimp export value, and the reopening could generate an additional ₹1,200–1,500 crore in annual export revenue. The move is expected to particularly benefit traditional small wild-caught shrimp varieties like Poovalan and Kari Kadi from Kerala's Malabar coast, supporting thousands of coastal livelihoods. Chairman and MD Mr. Shaji Baby John called it a landmark moment for India's seafood industry, positioning India to regain global leadership in shrimp exports.
Positive for the company and sector — reopening of the large US market can boost export volumes and revenues for Kings Infra's shrimp farming and processing business. Near-term upside may be partly offset by ongoing US tariff concerns, but the regulatory barrier removal strengthens the long-term growth outlook.
