Lancer Container Lines reported weak Q1 FY 2025-26 results, with consolidated revenue falling to Rs 10,708.70 Lakhs from Rs 17,243.76 Lakhs in Q1 FY 2024-25, a drop of about 38%. The company swung to a loss with Profit After Tax at Rs (461.56) Lakhs versus a profit of Rs 1,206.31 Lakhs a year earlier, while EBITDA dropped to Rs 613.45 Lakhs from Rs 1,590.87 Lakhs. EPS stood at (0.18) compared to 0.48 in the year-ago quarter. On a sequential basis, however, losses narrowed sharply from Rs (3,244.20) Lakhs in Q4 FY 2024-25, and EBITDA turned positive from Rs (3,249.05) Lakhs. Management attributed the YoY weakness to geopolitical tensions, disrupted cargo flows, and a steep fall in freight rates across all sectors.
YoY numbers are clearly disappointing and reflect ongoing stress in global container shipping, but the strong sequential improvement from Q4 FY 2024-25 suggests the worst may be passing. Shareholders should expect continued volatility tied to freight rate cycles and global trade conditions.
