L&T's Renewables business vertical has won a significant EPC order to build a 116 MWac solar PV plant integrated with a 241 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Kajra, Lakhisarai district in Bihar. The order extends an earlier phase, taking the total co-located storage capacity at the Lakhisarai renewable site to 495 MWh — described as the largest such project awarded by a state utility in India. The BESS will use advanced liquid cooling technology, enabling stored clean energy to be dispatched during peak demand. The order is classified as 'Significant' under L&T's internal classification, meaning it falls in the ₹1,000–2,500 crore range. The win comes shortly after L&T's Renewables business secured a separate 275 MW Solar PV EPC project in Gujarat.
This sizeable renewable energy order strengthens L&T's order book and reinforces its position in India's growing clean energy and energy storage space. For shareholders, it signals continued order inflow momentum in the high-growth renewables segment, though the 'Significant' classification means it is mid-sized rather than transformative for the company's overall ₹4-5 lakh crore order book.
