Laurus Labs' Board has approved investing up to €5 million (about ₹50 crore equivalent) in KRKA Pharma Private Limited, its existing joint venture with KRKA d.d., Novo mesto, Slovenia. The co-venturer KRKA d.d. will also invest about €5 million, keeping the shareholding ratio unchanged at 51:49 (KRKA d.d.: Laurus Labs). The funds will be used to set up a manufacturing facility for finished products, including for the Indian market. KRKA Pharma was incorporated in April 2024 and is yet to commence operations (turnover: Nil). The investment is expected to be completed by 31 December 2025 and is a related party transaction done at arm's length.
This is a follow-on capital infusion into an existing JV, not a new acquisition. The move supports Laurus Labs' long-term strategy of expanding into finished dosage manufacturing for new and Indian markets. Since KRKA is still pre-operational and Laurus' stake remains at 49%, the immediate financial impact is modest, but it strengthens the company's positioning in the pharmaceutical value chain.
