Lloyds Metals has successfully commissioned two key projects: a 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) pellet plant at Konsari, Maharashtra, and an 85-kilometre iron ore slurry pipeline from Hedri to Konsari with 10 MMT capacity. The pellet plant, among the largest single-configuration pellet plants in India, will convert iron ore fines into steelmaking-grade pellets, strengthening the company's forward integration. The slurry pipeline, the first of its kind in Western India, provides an eco-friendly logistics link between the company's iron ore mine in Gadchiroli and the pellet plant, significantly reducing freight costs and carbon footprint. Construction started in December 2023 after environmental clearance in November 2023, and commissioning was completed with a delay of a few weeks from the original 18-month schedule. These projects are designed to align with the company's upcoming iron ore mining and steel-making capacity expansions.
Positive for shareholders — the integrated assets are expected to improve margins in the medium term, lower logistics costs, and position the company for long-term growth in steel-making. The project may also lift future revenue capacity, though the slight commissioning delay is a minor negative.
