Mafatlal Industries reported a sharp jump in Q1FY26 results, with revenue from operations nearly tripling to ₹1,240.2 crore from ₹451.8 crore in Q1FY25, a 174.5% increase driven mainly by a large institutional consumer durables order (supplying articles to 9.59 lakh beneficiaries across 358 talukas in Maharashtra) and 41.4% growth in the textile segment. Operating EBITDA rose 66.4% to ₹47.0 crore and profit before tax grew 79.2% to ₹42.3 crore, while textile segment margins improved from 7.0% to 9.8%. The company highlighted an order book of around ₹1,000 crore to be executed in the near future, gross debt down 27% to ₹66.1 crore, and ROCE of 21% (FY25). Management reiterated its asset-light model with 87% outsourcing, and noted subsidiaries in digital infrastructure (60% in Pieflowtech) and a new 51%-owned apparel export venture targeting fashion and casual wear for global brands.
Strong quarterly performance on the back of a large one-off institutional order is likely to be viewed positively, but investors should note that EBITDA margins actually contracted from 6.7% to 3.9% as the low-margin consumer durables mix surged, and digital infrastructure revenue fell 88%. The ₹1,000 crore order pipeline and improving textile margins provide some comfort on near-term visibility, though sustainability of the consumer durables spike remains a key watchpoint.
