Malu Paper Mills has submitted newspaper copies (published in Loksatta and Indian Express on August 9, 2025) of its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, which were approved by the Board on August 8, 2025. Total income from operations stood at Rs. 544.36 lakhs, down from Rs. 578.58 lakhs in the previous quarter and sharply lower than Rs. 931.95 lakhs a year ago. The company reported a net loss after tax of Rs. 615.18 lakhs, wider than the Rs. 196.64 lakhs loss in Q1 FY25 and the Rs. 281.88 lakhs loss in Q4 FY25. Management cited a cash loss of Rs. 730.39 lakhs and an EBITDA loss of Rs. 478.88 lakhs due to elevated input costs hurting operating margins. Reserves are negative at Rs. (2,90.08) lakhs, and promoters have pledged further capital infusion to support revival.
Widening quarterly losses, negative reserves, and dependence on promoter capital support are negative signals that could weigh on the stock. However, the disclosed plan to monetize surplus land and expand into the kraft paper segment may provide a path to recovery if executed successfully.
