Manappuram Finance's board approved a borrowing program for FY 2026-27, including issuance of redeemable non-convertible debentures (NCDs) up to Rs. 7,400 crore via private placement and/or public issue in one or more tranches. The board also appointed Mr. Narayanan Easwaran as the new Group Chief Technology Officer, effective March 30, 2026; he brings over 25 years of banking technology experience from Equitas, IDFC First, ICICI, and Kotak Mahindra. Additionally, the company will invest up to Rs. 790.59 crore in subsidiary Asirvad Micro Finance at Rs. 44 per share (raising its stake from 98.56% to up to 99.06%) and up to Rs. 150 crore in wholly-owned Manappuram Home Finance at Rs. 10 per share. Both subsidiary investments are aimed at supporting their capex and working capital needs, with completion targeted by mid-to-late April 2026.
The Rs. 7,400 crore NCD borrowing plan signals continued expansion funding needs, while the large capital infusions into the microfinance and home finance subsidiaries suggest management is betting on growth in these segments. For shareholders, the CTO appointment indicates a focus on digital transformation, though the equity dilution in Asirvad is minor given MAFIL already holds 98.56%.
