Marico announced a new Packaging Material Circularity Score Framework to assess and improve the environmental footprint of its packaging portfolio, aligned with its 2030 Decade of Action sustainability goals. Over the past three years, the company eliminated 517.5 tonnes of virgin plastic and avoided 1,690 tonnes of carbon emissions through packaging innovations. As of FY25, 95.1% of Marico's packaging is recyclable, and it has collected and recycled 75,119 tonnes of plastic waste under India's EPR framework. By FY30, the company targets over 30% recycled content in non-food plastic packaging, 100% recyclable packaging, and zero hazardous waste-to-landfill at its owned manufacturing units. PVC usage has already been brought down to less than 0.05% across its packaging portfolio.
This is a sustainability and ESG branding initiative with no direct near-term impact on revenue, margins, or shareholder returns. It may marginally strengthen Marico's brand reputation among environmentally conscious consumers but is unlikely to move the stock price.
