Maruti Suzuki reported total production of 1,79,956 units in April 2025, up about 6% from 1,69,751 units in April 2024. Passenger vehicles grew to 1,76,784 units (vs 1,66,325), driven by strong 19% growth in utility vehicles (Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Jimny, XL6) to 72,640 units. The compact segment (Baleno, Swift, Dzire, WagonR, etc.) rose 7.5% to 82,576 units. However, the mini segment (Alto, S-Presso) fell 29% to 9,714 units, Ciaz production stood at zero (1,985 last year), and vans (Eeco) and LCVs (Super Carry) also saw modest declines. Figures include production from Suzuki Motor Gujarat.
A healthy 6% YoY rise in total production, led by strong SUV demand, is mildly positive for the stock. However, weakness in entry-level mini cars and the exit of the Ciaz point to a continued shift in consumer preference toward SUVs and premium hatchbacks, which could reshape the product mix going forward.
