MBL Infrastructure has won a court order directing the Uttarakhand Public Works Department (PWD) to pay a long-pending arbitration award related to a completed road project (Improvement/Strengthening of State Roads in Nainital & Udham Singh Nagar, Package No. 5). The Commercial Court in Dehradun has ordered PWD to pay the award amount of Rs 17.24 crores (including interest up to the award date) by a specified due date. Additionally, the company will receive 12% per annum future interest from the award date until actual payment, along with a declaratory award of GST. This is a follow-up to the original arbitration award dated 23 March 2024, which had been passed unanimously in favour of MBL Infrastructure. The enforcement order now strengthens the company's position to actually collect the dues.
Positive for shareholders — the court direction to pay could translate into actual cash inflow of ~Rs 17.24 crores plus interest, improving receivables and reducing bad-debt risk. Near-term stock reaction may be mildly positive, though MBL is a small-cap infrastructure company, so volumes could remain thin.
