MMTC Ltd has posted audited results with a Qualified Opinion from its auditor Dinesh Jain & Associates. The qualification stems from the Anglo Coal case where the company under-provisioned Rs. 82.82 crore (recognised Rs. 87.76 crore against estimated liability of Rs. 170.58 crore). Total income declined to Rs. 180.58 crore from Rs. 262.78 crore in the prior year, a significant drop. Standalone PAT fell to Rs. 21.21 crore from Rs. 69.53 crore. Exceptional items include Rs. 411.76 crore from NINL divestment and Rs. 13.21 crore from confiscated gold. The auditor also raised a Material Uncertainty regarding Going Concern as the government has directed MMTC to prepare a roadmap for scaling down manpower and exiting business operations. Deferred tax assets of Rs. 163.79 crore were derecognized during the year.
Shareholders should note the qualified audit opinion and going concern uncertainty indicate elevated risk. The company faces potential additional liability from the Anglo Coal case, and the government-directed exit may significantly alter MMTC's future operations and value.
