Morarka Finance, a small non-banking financial institution, reported Q1 FY26 total income of Rs 29.47 lakhs, sharply lower than Rs 180.50 lakhs in Q1 FY25 (about 84% drop year-on-year) and Rs 56.97 lakhs in Q4 FY25. Profit after tax came in at Rs 13.96 lakhs (EPS Rs 0.31) versus Rs 163.93 lakhs (EPS Rs 3.64) in the same quarter last year, a decline of roughly 91%. Total expenses were Rs 14.81 lakhs, marginally higher than Rs 13.99 lakhs in Q1 FY25. Other comprehensive income for the quarter was a large positive Rs 2,540.50 lakhs, mainly driven by mark-to-market gains on investments, swinging from a negative Rs 3,542.16 lakhs in Q4 FY25. The auditors (Jayesh Dadia & Associates LLP) issued an unqualified limited review report with no qualifications.
The headline P&L shows a steep YoY slump in both revenue (~84% lower) and profit (~91% lower) compared to Q1 FY25, which may weigh on the stock sentiment. However, the large positive other comprehensive income (driven by investment revaluations) significantly boosts total comprehensive income, and the company continues to report positive PAT with healthy reserves of Rs 9,078.50 lakhs against equity capital of Rs 450.21 lakhs.
