MRPL, a subsidiary of ONGC, reported an unfortunate industrial accident at its Mangalore refinery on July 12, 2025, at around 8 AM. Two experienced field operators were found unconscious on the roof-top platform of tank FB7029A in the OMS area, where they had gone to check the tank's level. Both employees were shifted to first aid and then to a nearby hospital but could not be revived and were declared dead. A third operator who took part in the rescue reported nausea, was admitted to hospital, and has since been discharged as stable. The company has constituted a high-level committee of Group General Managers to carry out a detailed investigation into the incident.
